Should I get a Lawn Mower or a Compact Tractor?
Your property might be right in between the right job size for a lawn mower, or a compact tractor. But which is the right machine for you? It’s a commonly asked question, and our Rocky Ford location manger, Cole Shomaker, is here to help answer!
A common question we get is when it’s time to step up from a lawn mower into a compact tractor. It depends on your situation and what you’re looking to do. A lot of the people we get in are looking to mow pastures, rough ground, open fields with lawn mowers, and they’re simply not designed to do that. They’re designed for lawns, smooth areas, anything under six inches of cut.
Anything bigger or heavier than that, we recommend going into a compact tractor. It will give you more available attachments, a wider range of use. On a compact tractor, we can still put a mid-mount mower deck under it and mow a lawn, just like this would. If we can also add a rotary cutter to the back, bale open, mow fields, open area pasture. You have the ability to add a front loader and move dirt, gravel, snow, clean horse stalls. A compact tractor will give you more stability, more maneuverability on uneven ground.
Here we have an E130, it’s recommended for a one to one and a half-acre area. Like I said, a grass landscaped area. Our bigger mowers up into the X700 series are good for lawns and acreages up to three acres. Anything over that, we definitely recommend a compact tractor.
