A Congressional Visit

Posted on August 29, 2018

Pueblo West, CO – On August 27, 2019, 4Rivers Equipment had the pleasure of hosting Member of Congress, Scott Tipton, for a morning of tours, introductions, and a meet-and-greet at our Pueblo West location.

Upon arrival, Tipton took any and every opportunity to meet every employee at the Pueblo store, from sales, to parts, to the shop. With a background in running a small business, Tipton appreciates and understands the hard work it takes, as well as the joy it brings, to be part of a business that is close with its community. Even today, Congressman Tipton uses this experience for his work in Congress. He is a co-founder of the Congressional Small Business Caucus, focusing on small business and community needs.

Congressman Tipton ran his small business for thirty years in his hometown of Cortez, Colorado before being elected to the Colorado House of Representatives, and shortly after was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. His work on the Federal level continues to be focused on Financial Services and the Natural Services Committee, and has passed several pieces of legislation including bills to advance healthy forest management and wildfire prevention.

After meeting with the Sales and Parts departments, Tipton continued to tour 4Rivers with General Manager of the C&F Division, John Shearer; Pueblo West Store Manager, Rich Naylor; Service Manager, Aaron Whitaker; and Parts Manager, Josh McClure. The tour consisted of the Parts department, then through the shop where Tipton visited with 4Rivers service techs. The group then went through the back lot, discussing the past, current and future progress of both construction and agricultural machinery. Congressman Tipton especially wanted to see the John Deere 944K Dozer, and even got in the driver’s seat while discussing its operation with Aaron Whitaker.

To end the day, Tipton sat with the employees of the Pueblo West store for a time of Q & A, over coffee and donuts, ready to answer any questions they may have for him.

The day was full of handshakes, thoughtful discussions, and a good deal of laughter from start to finish! 4Rivers Equipment thanks Congressman Tipton for his visit and time spent at our Pueblo West location, and for his service to Colorado.
